Atlantic City, NJ — How does Atlantic City’s biggest resort fill 800 jobs for its newest luxury hotel? Try throwing a major party on the Boardwalk with the governor as the guest of honor.

That’s exactly what the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa did last Friday when it hosted an all-out recruitment party in Kennedy Plaza on the Boardwalk, for its newest luxury venture, the Water Club.

The day’s event won the approval of Governor Jon S. Corzine, who addressed the mixed crowd of Water Club hopefuls, elected officials and supporters.

"It (the Water Club) really is an extraordinary investment and I think it speaks to what the future of Atlantic City is all about. We have to move from the world that was successful in many ways with day trips to making Atlantic City a real destination resort," Corzine said.

"It's going to create 800 to 1,000 jobs a year, so I'm glad to see that coming."

Joseph Corbo, President of the Casino Association of New Jersey, noted the day’s event was not only a significant milestone for the Borgata, but for Atlantic City as well.

"Atlantic City is in the midst of a significant renaissance where there is literally billions of dollars of fresh investment pouring into the city, in the form of significant expansions of existing casino hotels, two new casinos entertainment complexes that will soon break ground, with others in the early planning stages," said Corbo.
